Trying to achieve a white holo

Morning!! I've been on the lookout for a bright while holo for a while now. I do have the Glitter Gals white holo, Light as a Feather, and although it was holo, I wanted it to be more in your face holo :P So I experimented a tad, and tried a little layering. It turned out alright, but def not as I hoped. The Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Diamond kind of turned the white a tad yellow.

I started with 2 coats of China Glaze White on White, and then added a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Diamond. I wish there was sun when I did this, so I could even see if that helped more. Maybe I shall try again one day.

Side note - I can't freaking wait!!! One week from now I will be enjoying my day off, and proabbaly still talking about just seeing the Hunger Games with Jack!!! Are any of you going to the midnight showing? I always said I would never go to one of those, mainly because of the crowds, but I just couldn't wait!

  5. I think it looks fantastic!! A great summer go-to, though I expected to see something green posted today ;) Perhaps tomorrow? Btw, are you nails a little shorter here or is it just me? I am LOVING the length in these pictures (I tend to prefer more of a short nail, which is not the best when trying to recreate some of your looks).

    1. Yeah, I trimmed them down :) I'm glad you like it, I had a minor accident with my middle finger.

  7. Looks great, I'm super excited for the Hunger Games also but decided against the midnight showing plus it's completely sold out now in my area. It's ok my boyfriend and I decided the week after is when we will go which I'm super stoked that he will even go with me, I had to force him to go to Breaking Dawn and even then he fell asleep 5 minutes after the movie started.

    1. Haha, did he really??? Jack wouldn't go see it, but when I purchased it, he ended up watching it, and was sooo mad at himself for loving it. Now he can't wait for part 2, lol

  8. It came out awesome!

Totally wish I was going to a midnight HG showing. My viewing buddy is my mom, though, and no way she would be up to going. She went to a HP midnight showing with me once, and that was only because I was having friend drama and had spent the whole day crying, so she felt bad for me. I think I'm too old for that now, though, lol

  9. What about a white polish with a Spectraflair Topcoat? That might reduce down the yellowing effect. You can make your own or poke around on fb nail groups to find someone who sells them. :) I think it's pretty as you did it though!

  13. I had the same slightly-yellowy issue when I layered Milani Dazzling Diamonds over a snow-white polish :( I had wanted to do a "snowflake" look for January. It bugged me too much to leave the mani on for a full week like I usually do! The yellowy-white just had to go!

    1. Haha, yeah it came off soon. It just looked, discolored to me, and off :(

  14. I've always liked the idea of a white holo and did the same layering combo you did today, with the same results.

I'm not sure that a while holo that's super holo-y is even possible. I find that the darker the base colour of a holo polish, the better you can see the rainbow, so if we go white, it'll be weak. I dunno, maybe I'm just over-analyzing.

  17. Man, I have to try this like RIGHT NOW, lol! It looks so amazing...

  18. Do you think the white holo would work over a silvery base? That way you get the layering without the yellowy tint. I'm thinking something like Nfu-Oh 61 or CG Let's Do It in 3D.

  21. Funny because I tried to find a cool off white, white, or cream holo and really didn't see anything that hit the mark when I was at the beauty store. If you find one or recommend one, please post it! ~Erin Elizabeth
